I was born in 1941 in Gorman, Texas to John Felix Jr. and Bonnie Eva Stewart Corder. I was raised in Abilene, Texas and attended school there until I joined the US Navy in 1958.
My Naval experience was from 1958 to 1967. My first assignment was to Patron Squadron 6 in Hawaii, where we deployed to Iwakuni, Japan, monitoring shipping in the Sea of Japan. I flew as Plane Captaiun for 3 years.
Later I transferred to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, where I met and married my wife Carole Lee Wente Corder. We have been married 50 years. I managed the transient line while there.
Following Corpus Christi, I was assigned to Patrol Squadron 47, as a Flight Engineer flying missions monitoring shipping and flying cover for the 7th Fleet in Southeast Asia.
My Naval discharge came in 1967 after which I took various jobs trying to establish myself.
In 1970 I hired with the FAA and served with them until 1994 when I retired. I was an Air Traffic Controller, Manager, Supervisor, Regional Quality Assurance Specialist, and a member of the National Air Traffic Inspection Team.
In 1994 I accepted a position with the Boeing Corp. in Seattle, Washington as a member of their China Team. I worked with the Chinese CAAC until 1998.
In 1998 I was hired by Northwest Airlines to serve as a member of the International Air Transport Association investigation team ensuring Y2K compliance in Air Traffic Facilities around the globe. I staffed the International coordination center in Washington DC during the Y2K transition., then retired.
In 2001 my wife and I embarked on a mission for our Church, serving in Romania, and later the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
My wife, Carole and I have 4 children, Pamela, Denise, Gerald, and James, and 9 grandchildren. I began researching my family in 1962 and have been an avid researcher since.
We retired in Northeast Washington, just outside Kettle Falls, on a small lake, where we presently reside.
I help my wife with her business, Mission Lake Designs, and am active in my Church.
