Biography
The son of William Cooper (1781-1874) and Sarah Lydia Holmes (1781-1865), Isaac Cooper was born in Shoreham Township, Vermont[citation needed] in 1826. He migrated west with his family to Michigan, taking up residence in Lima Township, in Washtenaw County.[1] Isaac's siblings included:
- Lydia Holmes Cooper (1817-1850)
- Melissa Cooper (1822-1899)
- Lucinda Cooper (1825-1890)
- William H. Cooper (1829-)
Isaac married Louisa (Halsey) Cooper, marrying in Lima Township, Michigan on April 17, 1851,[2] having six known children together and residing for a time with his family in Lima Township.[3] By 1870, they had established their own household in Lima Township, farming.[4] In 1880, they lived in Fort Gratiot, Michigan, where Isaac had purchased a hotel.[5]
Isaac Cooper passed away in Port Huron, Michigan[6] at the age of 72 and is buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron.[7]
