Obit. W. C. Coon William Charles Coon, 85, a longtime resident of the Correctionville vicinity, died early Thursday at a Sioux City hospital after a long sickness. Mr. Coon taught rural school near Correctionville 20 years and farmed south of there for a number of years before retiring to Hinton, Iowa in 1947. He was born April 29, 1872, in Madison County, Iowa. His parents brought him to the Correctionville vicinity when he was a small child. At Hinton, Mr. Coon had lived with a sister, Mrs. Maude Page. He was a member of the HInton Methodist church. He also had been an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for many years. Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Page, are four other sisters, Mrs. Cora Queener of Kansas City, Missouri, Miss Verna Coon of Anthon, Mrs. Berthan Anderson of Correctionville and Mrs. Irma Coleman of Long Beach, California. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson-Hull funeral home at Correctionville. Burial was in Memorial park cemetery in Sioux City.
