In 1871 Charlotte (age about 22) was living at 11 Burrs, Walmersley With Shuttleworth, Lancashire, England. age 21, wife of henry working as a cotton rover^[2]

In 1881 Charlotte (age about 32) was living in Pilkington, Lancashire, England. wife, aged 31 working as a card room hand.^[3]

In 1891 Charlotte (age about 42) was living at 7 Second Street, Elton, Bury, Lancashire, England. aged 41, married to Henry^[4]

In 1901 Charlotte (age about 52) was living at 7 Second Street, Elton, Bury, Lancashire, England. aged 52, married to Henry^[5]

In 1911 Charlotte (age about 62) was living at 7 Second Street, Elton, Bury, Lancashire, England. aged 62, married 42 years, oc at home, having born 9 children, 4 of whom are dead^[6]

Research Notes

Charlotte Jefferson first appears on the 1881 census in which her parents are Henry and Charlotte Jefferson. Using the names and births of other children as reference points it is to find the family in the census of 1871. This is the first census in which they appear as a married couple. According to parish register transcript provided by John Grundy the couple were married on 16 April 1870 and Charlottes maiden name was Cook.

Charlottes father is given as Henry Cook on the marriage certificate and this enables me to find her in the 1861 census living with her parents Henry and Eliza at 23 Bulman Yard, Bury. In all census information Charlottes place of birth has remained consistent and her year of birth within 1 year. She should have been born in time to appear on the 1851 census but this has not been found yet.
