Louis was born about 1749, the son of François Consigny and his first wife, Marie-Louise Ducharme. He was born in what would become Quebec, but married around age 30 in New Brunswick, where it seems he spent the rest of his life. He worked as a farmer, and passed away in 1822 at 73 years old, at least 19 years after his wife. His death record lists him as the widower of Madeleine Thibodeau, which implies he never remarried.
