Biography

Based upon a conversation between Ellen's 2x great-grandson Timothy Sullivan and a distant cousin in Kanturk, Ireland, we have the following family history to add:

Michael and Ellen met when Michael went down to borrow a pick to work on a road project. Ellen was from Castlemagner, but was living with a family in Kanturk when she met Michael. They were about 17 or 18 according to the family story, but their marriage certificate indicates they were "of full age," which meant 21, when they were married. Ellen was the only one of the children in her family to survive the cholera epidemic after the famine. Her father was listed as a witness on their marriage certificate.
