Biography

Margaret Ann Connors was born Dec 4, 1865, in Greater Manchester, England to James and Elizabeth Longson Conners. She came to the United States in 1870 and was naturalized in 1877. She was living in Vincennes on Upper Ninth Street when she first met Eli. She married him in Knox County, Indiana on June 23, 1884. It was her first marriage and his second. She raised his two children by his first wife, and the couple had six children of their own. For awhile the family lived in Vincennes, but the scandal caused by her brother being charged with rape in 1890 may have caused them to return to Illinois. The local newspapers frequently mentioned her as attending church, visiting friends and family. The Sumner Press noted on April 29, 1915, page 3, that Mrs. Eli Keneipp met with a painful accident Friday. She fell striking her mouth on the edge of a hog trough cutting through her upper lip.

Maggie Keneipp who had been a resident of Bridgeport, Lawrence County Illinois for many years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Denison in Bridgeport November 20, 1953, just a few days shy of her 88 birthday. She had been in ill health for many months. Burial was in Moffett cemetery.
