Unknown (of Argyll) was the daughter of John Comyn and Eve, who married circa 1240. Eve was possibly the daughter of Walter Steward, Steward of Scotland.[1][2] Unknown's date of birth is estimated as occurring after 1240, the year of her parents' marriage. Unknown (of Argyll) had six full siblings that included:
William,[1][2] of Kirkintilloch, born after 1240, married Isabella Russell, daughter of John Russell, Knt., and Isabella, Countess of Menteith. Although he was living in January 1260/91, he was deceased before 2 June 1291;[3][4]
John, "the Black," Knt., of Badenoch, was born after 1240 and died in 1302. He married Marjory, daughter of John Baliol of Barnard Castle and his wife, Devorguilla;[1][3][5][6]
Alexander, who married Eva Unknown, widow of Alexander de Moray.[1][2][5];
Unknown married Alexander MacDonnchadh of Argyll,[1][2] fourth Chief of Clan MacDougall.[8] It is unknown whether this marriage produced issue.
Death
The dates and locations of Unknown's (of Argyll]) death and burial are not known.
Research Notes
According to the Clan MacDougall Society of North America, Alexander MacDonnchadh allegedly married "Julienne," the daughter of John Comyn, which created a strong alliance with the Comyn and Balliol families.[8] While the biographies of the Chiefs of Clan MacDougall are sourced, none is available online.
