Biography

Nicholas Colquit, Citizen and Draper of London, was the posthumous son of Richard Colquit, Citizen and Draper of London, from a long line of Drapers. He was baptised on 23 March 1627/8 at the church of All Hallows Bread Street.^[1] He followed his father into the Drapers' Company, where he became free on 24 November 1652. ^[2]

On 11 November 1658, at St Dionis Backchurch, he married Anne, daughter of William Mellish, Merchant Taylor. ^[3]

Colquit died shortly after the marriage in 1660, leaving no issue. He was buried at All Hallows the Less in Thames Street. ^{[4] [5]}

His Will ^[6] was signed on 24 April 1660 and proved on 18 September. His primary beneficiary was his mother Margaret, who had remarried after his father's death, named executrix. It appears from her absence from the Will that his wife Anne had predeceased him.
