Biography
Walter was born on 13 February 1838 in , Guernsey, Ohio, United States. He was the son of Jacob Collins and Ann Morrison.[1]
Walter died at the age of 71 on 26 March 1909 in Mena, Polk, Arkansas, United States.[1]

Research Notes
Walter Collins's Declaration for a Pension (Civil War) and using the name John Jones indicated his year of birth was 1835 but most other records indicate it was 1838. The 1850 census listing Walter's siblings would indicate his birth year was most likely 1838.

shows date of death as March 9, 1909, but the Drop Order and Report, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions (Certificate No. 712556) shows date of death as March 26, 1909.
U.S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865, for John Jones indicates he was also known as Walter W. Collins.
