Biography

1776 Project
Lieutenant Jonathan Colburn served with Suffolk County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Jonathan Colburn is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A023986.

John was born on 18 September 1727 in Dedham, Massachusetts. He was the son of Ephraim Colburn and Elizabeth Whiting.[1]

John Colburn married Mary Smith on 4 January 1753 in Dedham, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[2]

Jonathan served as a Lieutenant & 1st Lieutenant under Captains Nathan Ellis & David Fairbanks Fairbanks-1407, Cols McIntosh & Heath. He also is cited as serving patriotic service as the Constable for Dedham in 1783. [3]

Jonathan passed away 25 Sep 1808 in Shrewsbury Vermont. His will was probated in Dedham.[4]

He is buried in Northam Cemetery in North Shrewsbury.[5]
