Biography

William was born about 1812 in Kentucky. His parents were John Coday and Elizabeth Sumners.

William was married twice:

(1) Ginney Young on Dec. 15, 1831 in Lawrence County. Indiana, she died between 1835 &1840 . They had 3 children - John, Samuel and Lucinda.
(2) Dorcas Moody Randall 1840 in Missouri. In 1840 she was listed in Pulaski co. Mo. Census. Dorcas' parents were Henry and Lidda Moody. Dorcas' first husband was Benjamin Randall who she married March 10, 1836 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee. Dorcas had three children from this first marriage - Nancy, Margaret and Mary. William and Dorcas raised their family on a farm that was later a part of the Finley farm on Wolf Creek. Their post office was Hartsville , Missouri. Their children were: William Coday Jr., Harrison , Elizabeth, Isaac, Dorcas and Henry.[1][2][3] In 1880 Dorcas was living with her son, William Coday Jr. and wife Flori.

He passed away in June 28, 1871 in Wright County, Missouri. Dorcas was the Adm. of his will. He is buried Wolf Creek cem. Wright co. Missouri.[4]
