On 21 December 1834, Euphemia was "at her own desire" brought before the Kirk Session and was "seriously rebuked and absolved from the sin of fornication with John Archibald."[2]
Euphemia gave birth out of wedlock to a daughter, Mary Archibald, in 1835.[3][4]
In 1841, Euphemia and her sister Helen were in service at the home of Robert Drysdale. Euphemia's six year old daughter lived with her, but is listed as Margaret Archibald on the census.[5]
In 1851, Euphemia, her daughter and her sister were living with her father, a woollen hand loom weaver. The women were all working as wool winders.[6]
In 1861, Euphemia, Helen and Margaret still lived together in Alva.[7]
In 1875, Euphemia was listed as proprietor and occupant of a house and garden on Duke Street in Alva.[8]
