Biography
Charles was born 25 April 1870 at Durran Hill House, Carlisle, Cumbria, England, the son of R. H.Clutterbuck,of Durran Hill, Carlisle.[1] He was an accomplished horse trainer. In 1906 he moved the family to Kenya, which was then colonial British East Africa. He purchased a farm in Njoro near the Great Rift Valley, and worked for Hugh Cholmondeley.
