James Edward Clow was born in 1867 in Victoria, Australia, the son of Fanny Susanna (Edwards) Clow and Peter Clow.^{[citation needed]}

He married Maud Elizabeth Pagram in 1888 in Victoria.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
