Biography

William was born about 1860. He was the son of Hendrik Cloete and Maria Watney.

He married Maria Albinia Brodrick on 10 June 1851 at the Holy Trinity Clapham by Rev Hon. William John Brodrick, Rector of Bath, Co. Somerset. ^[1]

He is mentioned in the will (1870) of his brother in law William Pennefather who was married to his wife's sister Anne Brodrick.

Maria died in 1877

William married Anna Isabella Fulford in 1878 in Somerset, England. ^[2]

He died in 1890 in Monte Carlo in France. Note: the UK Probate states that the death date is 10 February 1891, but at the same location.

Probate search for Will - 12 September 1895 - Nelson, New Zealand^[3] A search was made of the Principal Probate Registry, New Zealand and the last will of William James Dundas Cloete late of Churchchill Court , near Bristol in the County of Somerset, who died at Monte Carlo in France 10 February 1890 was proved by Isabella Dundas Pryse, formerely Cloete, Widow the Relict, the sole executrix on the 22 May 1891. The text of the will was that all his estate and effects were left to his dear wife Anna Isabella Cloete. The will was dated 13 June 1884.

After william's death in 1891 Anna Isabella (Fulford) Coete married John Pugh Vaughan-Pryse in 1895 in Bath, County Somerset, England ^{[4] [5]}
