Biography

Edith Cline has German Roots.

Edith, daughter of Michael Cline and Laura A. "Lillie" Willits,^[1][2][3] was born 10 February 1882 in Martinsburg, Clay Township, Knox County, Ohio.^[1][3] Her father died in 1897 in Martinsburg.^[4]

Her widowed mother rented a home on East Third Street in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio.^[2] There Edith (age 18, paper box factory worker) appeared in the 1900 census for the first and last time residing with her mother Lillie A. Cline (age 43, dressmaker and mother of three) and sisters [Cline-4688|Minnie May]] (23, stitcher in suspender factory) and Annie S. (20, factory worker).^[2] She eventually obtained a position as a stenographer.^[3]

Sadly, the day after Christmas, 26 December 1909, Edith died in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, at the age of 37 from 'exhaustion" due to typhoid fever.^[3][5] She was buried near her parents at Martinsburg Presbyterian Cemetery in Martinsburg.^[6]
