His family returned to India and he was sent back to England for his education - he was a boarder in the house of a general practitioner in Long Stratton, Norfolk at the time of the 1881 census.[4]
He studied medicine at Guy's Hospital in London, where, after qualifying, he became house physician. He settled in Norwich in General Practice. more about his career on the RCP site.[2]
He married Evelyn M Jackson in 1900 and they had one son and one daughter.[2]
While he was still working in London he lived on Shooter's Hill Road, Greenwich.[6]
By 1908, he is listed as living at 10 Thorpe Mansions Norwich.[7]
The 1911 census finds him with his wife, visiting the Brecon Military Barracks.[8]
During World War I he served in the RAMC as a doctor. Not fit to serve overseas, he served at the Norfolk War Hospital. He was a temporary Major.[9]
