May (Clements) Miller was born in New South Wales, Australia

Lillian May Findlater Clements was born in 1904 in Minmi, New South Wales, Australia. She was the eldest daughter of John H Findlater Clements and Martha unknown. [1] The family later settled in Cronulla, in Sydney's south.

May married Arthur Miller on Saturday, 16th May 1925 in St Phillip's Church of England (now Anglican), Sydney. [2] The Australian published the following report of the wedding in its newspaper on Friday, 22nd May: [3]

"MILLER—FINDLATER CLEMENTS.
"A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Philip’s Church, Church Hill, on Saturday afternoon, when Miss May Findlater Clements, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Findlater Clements, of Cronulla, was married to Mr. Arthur Redvers Miller, eldest son of the late Mrs. Miller and Mr. Miller, of Bathurst.
"The Rev. J. D. Armitage was the officiating clergyman.
"The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a handsome gown of ivory brocaded crepe de chine designed on tube lines, the flared skirt bordered with silver and ostrich feather trimmings. A train of silver lame lined with shell pink geogette fell from the shoulders, and her tulle veil was wreathed with orange buds. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of choice white blooms tied with silver and satin streamers.
"Miss Edna Simonds, in sky blue marocain, and Miss Joyce Findlater Clements, in pink marocain trimmed with georgette and silver, were bridesmaids. Their head-dresses were of pink and blue tulle held in place with a coronet of mandarin buds, and carried bouquets to tone.
"Mr. Maynard and Mr. Jack Findlater Clements attended the bridegroom.
"During the signing of the register, Mrs. Lyddieth sang “Because.”
"A reception was held at Sargent’s, Market Street, where Mrs. John Findlater Clements received her guests in a smart gown of Madonna blue marocain, with touches of fawn, and a hat to match. Her posy was of autumn tints. Later. Mr. and Mrs. Redvers Miller left for the Jenolan Caves, the bride travelling in Havana marocain, with smart pull-on hat to tone, and a set of beautiul furs."

From 1940 to 1964 the couple lived in Darwin, Northern Territory whilst Arthur held the appointment of Surveyor General of the Territory. Arthur had arranged May's evacuation before the Japanese air raids of 19th February 1942; during which time he was also the Chief Air Raid Warden for the town.

Aged 75 years, May passed away in 1980 in Casino, New South Wales and is buried in the Casino Lawn Cemetery. [4] She was survived by Arthur, who passed ten years later.
