Walter Edward Clarke was born on November 26, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of William and Beatrice (Winser) Clarke.
He entered the US Naval Reserve on July 30, 1938 and worked his way up to Captain.
He resided in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Captain Clarke retired from the U.S. Navy in 1969.
Walter went Missing in Action on April 3, 1992 at Sea during the Solomon Islands Campaign.
He was a Recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for successfully shooting down two Japanese planes.
