Thomas Clarke is the son of William Clarke and Sarah Wolcott. He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts about 1676. He was severely wounded as a baby when Indians attacked the garrison house on the Eel River on 12 March 1675/1676. He became known as "Silver Headed" Tom or Thomas due to the silver plate used to repair the injury to his skull. [1] Thomas, left for dead, afterwards recovered and had a silver plate put over his exposed brain by the celebrated surgeon, Dr. John Clark, of Boston. He was known afterwards as "silver headed Tom.[2]
He died intestate and on 18 September 1744, William Clarke was granted the administration of his estate.[3]
