Obituary

Published in the Concord Enterprise, August 3, 1899:

Rev. George F. Clark, a retired Unitarian clergyman, who for several years has made his home here, was taken suddenly and seriously ill last week. His case requiring surgical treatment, it was thought best by the attending physicians, Drs. Tasker and Guy Mead, to remove him to a hospital in Boston whither he was taken Sunday morning. His extreme age, 82 years, coupled with bodily weakness, made all efforts unavailing and he passed away about 5 o'clock Monday afternoon. Mr. Clark has been largely identified with the temperance cause for many years, and has enjoyed membership in the order of Good Templars where he has held high office. He has also written one or two books on the subject. He has had fairly good health until this fatal illness, and less than two weeks ago with his wife, he attended the wedding of a niece in Fitchburg. Funeral services were held at his home Wednesday afternoon and were in charge of the I. O. G. T. The interment was in Stow.
