John was born in 1859. He was the son of Thomas Clark and Eliza Maule Davidson.[1]
He married Helen Marder Douglas, daughter of Reverend Henry Marder Douglas, on 3 June 1885. They had 4 children:
He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Clark, of Melville Crescent, Edinburgh (est. 1886 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom) on his father passing on 24 December 1900.
He was Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel of the 7th Battalion, Royal Scots between 1905 and 1910. He was awarded the Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.) He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Edinburgh. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for Midlothian.
He passed away on 27 May 1924 at age 65.
