George was born on the 18 November 1856 at Burnt Creek, near the goldfields Town of Dunolly, Shire of Central Goldfields, northwest of the capital city of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia^[1]. He is the son of Thomas Clark and Maria Firns.

George (Clark) marries Emily Jane (Haynes) on the 23 November 1881 in the Town of Avoca, in the gently undulating basin of the Avoca River, Avoca District, County of Gladstone, Central Highlands, Victoria, Australia^[2].
