Biography

Sarah Church, daughter of Joseph and Grace (Shaw) Church.

Descendant of Pilgrim Richard Warren.

On 13 April 1714, Sarah charged Edward Southworth (descendant of Richard Alden) of being "father of child begotton her body".

Although they did not marry, Edward Southworth and Sarah Church appear to have had the following (2) children:

1. Presscilia Southworth, born May 29 1714
2. Benjamin Southworth, born April 30 1720

The Warren Silver Book confirms Priscilla and Benjamin as illegitimate children of Sarah Church and Edward Southworth.^[1]

On 30 November 1738, Sarah married John Talman.

On 30 Nov 1738 when Sarah was 47, she married John Tallman, son of Dr. James Tallman (ca 1668-1724) & Mary Davol (ca 1670-ca 1700), in Little Compton, RI. Born on 19 Sep 1692 in Portsmouth, RI. John died between 11 Aug 1741 and 18 Aug 1741 in Tiverton, RI.

On 9 September 1720, Sarah Church of Little Compton was received into the Baptist church of Swansea, Massachusetts by recommendation from the Church of Christ in Boston.^[2]

Her will is dated 24 May 1750, and recorded in Little Compton.^[3]
