Biography

John Thomas Chunn in North Carolina in 1825 to Henry Chunn and Hannah Garrett. As a young boy, his family moved to Maury County, Tennessee. When he was 21, he married Mariah Shires on 18 Mar 1846.[1] John's sisters, Emily and Sarah had married into the Shires family, marrying brothers, Jacob and Joel, respectively. Mariah was the daughter of of Jacob and Joel's brother David Shires.

  5. David J. Chunn, b. 6 Apr 1857; d. 17 Mar 1923.
  6. Victoria Chunn, b. 2 Sep 1860; d. 8 Jan 1922; m. 6 Oct 1886, James T. Culver.

Research Notes

I was unable to locate John and Mariah in the 1870 and 1880 census records.

There is a Find A Grave profile for John the gravestone gives his birth as 1819 and his death 1900-2.[4]
