Hannah (Cheney) Kneeland was the daughter of Ebenezer and Hannah (Gould) Cheney, and was born Aug. 18, 1777, at Orange, Mass, her father, Ebenezer Cheney, was the son of William and Joanna (Thayer) Cheney. He was born in Mendon, Mass., July 10, 1741, and served as Sergeant in Capt. Wen Jones' company in the French and Indian War, and was at Ticonderoga under Gen. Amherst. Upon the horn is cut "Ebenezer Cheney, Ticonderoga." He also served in the War of the Revolution, in Capt. Moses Harvey's company, of Col. David Wells' regiment, enlisting May 10, 1777.
