Biography

Richard was born in 1836 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.

At some point in his first 30 years he travelled down to Hampshire and settled there. He may have come from a steelworking family in Sheffield and brought his tools to the south-east where he found work first as a toolmaker and later as a cutler.

Richard (age 31), child of Henry Cheetham, married Louisa Walke (age 24) on 4 August 1867 at St Bartholomew's Church, Southsea, Hampshire, England.^[1]
