Cesar was an American Labor Leader and Civil Rights Activist. He was co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union (UFW) together with Dolores Huerta in 1962.

Cesario was born in 1927. He was the son of Librado Chavez and Juana Estrada. He passed away in 1993 in San Luis, Yuma, Arizona, United States. He is buried at the Cesar Chavez National Monument in Keene, Kern County, California [1], which was dedicated by U.S. President Obama in 2012.

In 1994, President Clinton awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously. In 2003, the US Postal Service released a postage stamp in his honor [2]. In 2006, he was inducted as a part of the inaugural class of the California Hall of Fame.[3].

I heard Cesar Chavez speak at the AFLCIO conference in Miami when I was a child. My father took me to the conference. It had a tremendous impact on me. He was an amazing speaker. Even as a child, I was very moved.
