Jean-Charles Chapais était un homme d’affaires et homme politique; né à Rivière-Ouelle, Bas-Canada, le 2 décembre 1811, fils de Jean-Charles Chapais, marchand, et de Julienne Boucher; le 30 juin 1846, il épousa Georgina Dionne, et de cette union bénite par Charles-Paschal-Télesphore Chiniquy, oncle de la mariée, six enfants naîtront, dont Thomas, homme politique et historien, et Jean-Charles, auteur de plusieurs livres et brochures sur l’agriculture; décédé à Ottawa le 17 juillet 1885 et inhumé dans l’église Saint-Denis-de-la-Bouteillerie, à Saint-Denis, Québec, le 22 juillet suivant.
Jean-Charles Chapais was a businessman and politician; born 2 Dec. 1811 at Rivière-Ouelle, Lower Canada, son of Jean-Charles Chapais, merchant, and Julienne Boucher; married 30 June 1846 Georgina Dionne, whose uncle, Charles-Paschal-Télesphore Chiniquy, performed the ceremony; they had six children, including Thomas, a politician and historian, and Jean-Charles, an author of several books and pamphlets on agriculture; died 17 July 1885 at Ottawa, and was buried 22 July in the church of Saint-Denis-de-la-Bouteillerie at Saint-Denis, Quebec[1]
