Obituary 19 Sep 1908[8]

...It is with regret that we have to record the painfully sudden death of Hr F. Chalwell. The old gentleman was (to all appearances) in good health up till Tuesday afternoon, when the event we are recording took place, The first intimation of any thing wrong was noticed by Mrs Sam Chalwell, who, hearing her name called, saw the deceased staggering towards her house. She went to his assistance, and placed him on her own bed, where he seemed to rally. The end was not far off, however, for after mentioning that he had passed a good night, and had a hearty breakfast and dinner, he turned on his side and expired. His wife was away from home at the time, visiting some relatives, therefore the shock to her was somewhat more painful than if she had been in attendance. Mr Chalwell was an old resident of this district, and was well liked by all who knew him. He leaves a grown-up family, all married, who share with their mother the profound sympathy and respect of the district. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon and was well attended, showing the respect in which the deceased gentleman was held.
