Biography
Ann (Chalmers) Borella was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)
Ann Chalmers was born in 1853 in Ballarat, Victoria (Australia). She was the second daughter of Archibald Chalmers and Beatrice (Main) Chalmers. [1]
Ann married Tasmanian-born Louis Borella in 1880 in Victoria. [2] They had three children:
- Beatrice Elizabeth Alfreda (1880-1955), married surname Kirkland
- Albert (1881-1968), awarded the Victoria Cross during the First World War.
- Annie Aurora (1884-1927), married surname Brown.
Aged just 31 years, Ann passed away on 9th January 1885 at home in Mount Egbert, Mysia, Victoria (Mysia was later re-named Borung). [3] The Leader published the following notice of death on 24th January 1885: [4]
- "BOROLLA - On the 9th January, at her residence, Mount Egbert, Annie, the beloved wife of Louis Borella, and second eldest daughter of Archibald and Beatrice Chalmers, of Mount Rowan, Ballarat, aged 31 years. At rest. Mysia."
