Biography

This profile is part of the Chadwick Name Study.

Benjamin Chadwick was born on 02 February 1688/9 in Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of James Chadwick Hannah Butler.[1]

He married Elizabeth Green in Falmouth, Barnstable County, (then) Province of Massachusetts Bay on 31 Jan 1722/3.[2] Their daughter Sarah was born in Falmouth in November of 1723, and their son James in July 1725.

Benjamin's will was written in Barnstable on 8 Feb 1775, and it was proved there on 15 May 1775.[3] In his will he makes provisions for his wife Elisabeth, and makes a bequest to his daughter Sarah Church, and gives his "Indian girl Bee" her time. He gives his son James his real and personal estate, and names James as his executor.

Administration of his estate was granted to Jonathan Hatch for the unadministered portion of his estate and it was inventoried on 19 May 1804.[4] By this time, Benjamin's widow had died, as well as both of his children

The Malden record of Births indicates that there is a Benjamin Chadwick born on feb 02, 1688/89, of James and Hannah Chadwick. Page 15

They are my 6th GG. In the Ancestry records it is indicated as the Births, Marriages and Deaths in the Town of Malden 1649-1850

Thanks Judith, I've done a few updates to include that birth record.

We still don't really have any documentary proof that Benjamin of Malden is the same as Benjamin of Barnstable. If anyone has that proof, it would be most welcome.
