Biography

Benjamin was born to James Chadwick Sr. and Esther Walker on 23 November 1798 in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England.^[1] He, his brothers, and his father, were blacksmiths / machinists.^[1][2][3][4] Ben married Lucy Hargreaves on 24 September 1821 at St. Peter ad Vincula Church in Stoke on Trent.^[3] In 1834, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and children.^[2] They settled in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey. Ben passed away due to cholera on 26 July 1870 at his home on Stony Road in Paterson, New Jersey.^[4][5][6] He was buried in Sand Hill Cemetery in Paterson.^[6]
