He was the son of William Cavendish, 7th Duke of Devonshire and the Lady Blanche Georgiana Howard.^[1]He was born on the 28th of November 1774.^[1]He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1854 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).^[1]He married Luise Friederike Auguste Gräfin von Alten, daughter of Karl Franz Victor Graf von Alten and Hermine de Schminke, on the 16th of August 1892.^[1]At St. George Hanover Square, London, England.^[2]He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1892.^[1]He died on the 24th of March 1908 at the age of 74 at Cannes, France, from heart failure, without issue.^[1][3][4]
