Biography

Daniel, eldest son of Charles Daniel Cave and Edith Harriet Symonds, was born on 17 May 1860,[1] baptised on 11 July 1860 in Bristol, Gloucestershire[2] and his birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1860 in the Clifton district.[3]

He was educated at Christ College, Oxford[4] and, like his father, Daniel became a Magistrate and a Banker; he was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA),[5] Justice of the Peace (JP) for Devon, Justice of the Peace (JP) for Gloucestershire. In 1901 he was with his parents at Clifton Park in Bristol.[6][7]

Daniel never married. He died, age 41, on 23 July 1901 and was buried in Mangotsfield, South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority, Gloucestershire.[1] Daniel Charles Addington Cave of Stoneleigh House, Clifton in Bristol's estate passed probate on 5 December 1901 in Bristol.[8]

His Obituary in the Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries read:[5]

Mr. Daniel Charles Addington Cave, who died 23rd July,1901, aged 41, was elected a Fellow 13th June, 1898. He was an active member of the Council of Clifton College, and materially assisted the fortunes of the Fine Art Academy, of which he was President.
