Virginia May (Catron) Kircher was born in Victoria, Australia
Virginia May Catron was born on 24 February 1917 at Brunswick North, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She was the daughter of Joseph Edward Thomas Catron (Lieutenant Colonel) and Zoe (née May).[1]

Virginia was appointed to the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) as a Staff Nurse on 29 May 1941, promoted to Sister Gp II on 1 December 1941, and further promoted as Sister Gp I on May 1942. She enlisted on 23 October 1942 at Katherine, Northern Territory, for service in the Australian Army Nursing Service during World War II. On 23 March 1943 she was promoted to Lieutenant and seconded in the AANS for service with the Australian Infantry Forces (AIF). She was at the 121st Australian General Hospital in Katherine, Northern Territory and 105th Australian General Hospital in South Australia. Her appointment was terminated on 9 February 1944. [2] [3]

She married Gottfried William Augustus Kircher on 24 September 1943. [2]

Virginia died on 20 June 2006 at Mornington, Victoria, Australia. Probate was granted on 26 September 2006. [4]
