- Frequently Used Profile Wording
- to create a link in a profile which goes to a page showing every other profile that links to that page
- To remember what specific Research is needed
- Use the first line at the very top any time you have additional records that should be found. Place the second line after citations. Include the third line in citations and sources for a quick link to the research notes.

- Comment to leave on profiles with active managers of unsourced profiles
- I'm a <family name> researcher also, so am always intrigued when I see a new one pop up in my feed. I'm also a member of the Profile Improvement Project and adding sources to unsourced profiles is one of the things I enjoy doing. I almost forgot the first rule of WikiTree, though, and that's to collaborate. Anyway, long story short...I've got a bunch of sources that document <person's given name> life. Would it be ok to add them to the Sources section?
- Research Websites
- Family Search (Free) - Lots of Transcriptions and Images or links to images. Great because every record includes the exact source citation to use
- FindAGrave (Free) - Lots of cemeteries indexed, many with pictures of the headstones. Great place for research hints because family members have been assigned. Take the info with a grain of salt, though, because no sources are cited for those relationships.

- Advanced Directive wording as first seen on John Beardsley's profile - Wonderful idea
- Place it at the end of your profile; make the whole thing bold
- Unconnected Analogy
- The WikiTree Forest is like a stand of birches, where every profile is a member of one organic whole. Unconnected trees are like the lonely pines at the edge of the birch stand. Friends of the WikiForest make it a goal to find the magic fairy dust known as sources which will turn those pine trees in to members of the birch stand.

Sourcers Challenge hint:
Quick Tip for easily adding the linked profile name and source to the list in your answer. This seems so obvious now that I figured it out so I'm going to put it here in case it's new to someone else.
When saving the profile, make sure to include the reason for the edit (e.g., 1900 Census, marriage, birth record, etc)
In the top menu, hover over "My WikiTree"
On the menu that appears, click the "Contributions: ###" link
On your contributions list, highlight the name and reason, then copy.
Open your comment in the Challenge page and place your cursor at the bottom
Paste the copied info from your contributions page
The name, already linked to the profile, and the source is automagically added to your list.

LOOKING FOR SPECIFICS - top
Probably the best way to find others searching for ??? is the [https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/ G2G forum]. There you could [https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/ask?cat= create a new post] to introduce yourself. Down at the bottom where it says "Surnames and project tags," add the tags like you did on your profile.
If you add ??? there are a number of members who follow that tag and will potentially see your message: https://www.wikitree.com/genealogists/???
Another member follows ???_RELATED so you might want to consider that tag also. https://www.wikitree.com/genealogists/???

At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles. Since I'm guessing that your Proper First Name isn't really ??, please adjust that name field. If your Proper First Name and Preferred Name are the same, just put it in both fields. You can also leave Preferred name blank. WikiTree's security features will set your visible name to Anonymous, and that's OK too!
For more information on how to use each of the naming fields see this page: Name_Fields Name For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page

At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles. We have a few members with the surname Anon. If that is your surname, please let me know by clicking "reply on Debi's page" under this comment and leaving a comment or sending me a private message. If you're looking for anonymity, please use Anonymous for your last name. Once we know about your surname, we will be able to confirm your membership.

PS. At WikiTree, we use the Last Name at Birth (LNAB) as part of the the WikiTree ID. If your joined surname is your surname at birth, you're good to go.
If it is your marital surname, please adjust the LNAB and place the marital surname in the Current Last Name (CLN) field. By keeping the data consistent in the fields across the system, it makes collaboration and searches work more efficiently.
Hi ,
I'm a WIkiRanger working the current shift.
Thanks for the work you're doing in connecting the ? family. Please remember to add sources to the profiles to support those relationships, even if they're family sources (examples). This is especially important when working on profiles managed by others.
Thanks for sharing!
