Opened in 1942 as the 110th Australian General Hospital, in 1947 it became the Repatriation General Hospital. In 1994, the hospital was purchased by the Ramsay Health Care Group and became the Hollywood Private Hospital; an acute care hospital located in Nedlands, Western Australia and is Western Australia's largest private hospital, with of 738 licensed beds. The hospital contains four wings: the Anne Leach Wing, Marjorie Brislee Wing, Vivian Bullwinkel Wing and the Sylvia Perry Wing. All wards and units are named after Western Australians who were awarded the Victoria Cross or George Cross: Thomas Axford VC Ward, Frederick Bell VC Unit, John Carroll VC Ward, Mark Donaldson VC Ward, Hugh Edwards VC Ward, Alfred Gaby VC Unit, Leon Goldsworthy GC Ward, Jim Gordon VC Ward, George Gosse GC Ward, Percival Gratwick VC Ward, Stan Gurney VC Ward, Lawrence McCarthy VC Ward, Henry Murray VC Ward, Martin O'Meara VC Ward, Charles Pope VC Ward, Clifford Sadlier VC Ward, Leslie Starcevich VC Ward, Hugo Throssell VC Unit, James Woods VC Ward.
