Biography

Marvin Alburn Casteel (1897-1973)

[Although he was called Alburn, many records give his middle name as Albert. It is unclear at this time whether Albert was his actual name and Alburn was just a nickname or whether his actual name was Alburn and the records that give his name as Albert are in error.]

Alburn was the seventh child and third son of Bud and Jane (Goode) Casteel of Limestone County (and occasionally neighboring Lauderdale County), Alabama. Alburn was born in Lauderdale County in 1897.

On 27 March 1921, Alburn married Lura Annie Howard in Rogersville, Lauderdale County, Alabama.

They would have five children (one of whom died in infancy):

• Marion A. Casteel (b. 1922) — her married name was Noe
  
• James Russell "Jimmy" Casteel (b. 1928)
  
• Morris Dale Casteel (b. 1932)
  
• Leonard Wayne Casteel (b. 1938) who died in infancy
  
• William Rousseau "Billy" Casteel (b. 1940)
  

Leonard would die in 1939. He was not yet 2 months old. He is buried in the Dement Cemetery in Limestone County, Alabama.

Jimmy Casteel served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for over 50 years as a barber. He lived in Athens, Limestone County, Alabama. His wife's name was Dorothy. He died in Athens in 2008 and is buried in the Dement Cemetery in Limestone County, Alabama.

At the time of this writing, Alburn and Annie's other children, Marion, Dale, and Billy, are (to the best of this contributor's knowledge) still living, so no further information will be provided about them without their consent.

Marvin Alburn Casteel would die on 19 June 1973 in Limestone County, Alabama. He is buried in the Dement Cemetery in Limestone County.

His wife Annie would live until 1993. She is buried with her husband in the Dement Cemetery.
