Mary Catherine Elizabeth (Caskey) Tubb (abt. 1830 - aft. 1893)

Mary Catherine Elizabeth Caskey was the daughter of John W. Caskey. Her father moved from Lancaster County South Carolina into Macon County Alabama in the 1830s. She married Benjamin M. Tubb there in 1845, and they moved to Union Parish Louisiana about 1845 or 1846, settling on a farm near Cherry Ridge. She raised her large family of children on her farm, and after her husband's death in 1880 she continued to manage the farm until the early 1890s. Low farm prices contributed to a substantially lower living standard for her family during the 1880s. By the early 1890s, she began distributing her old farm among her children.

Kate Caskey Tubb was alive on 28 October 1893, when she lived in Cherry Ridge. She died shortly afterwards, although no record of her exact date of death has been located. Although her grave is unmarked, she is believed to have been buried in the Zion Hill Cemetery. ^[1]
