Richard (Cashon) Cashin was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Richard Cashon was born in 1864 in Malakoff, now Landsborough, Victoria, Australia, the son of Richard Cashon and Mary Sullivan. ^[1]

After his birth, when the family moved to a different area, their surname spelling changed to Cashin.

Marriage. In 1886, as Richard Cashin, he married Jane O'Callaghan, in Victoria. ^[2]

Death. Richard Cashin died in 1942 at Stawell, Victoria, aged 79. ^[3]

CASHIN — On June 5 (suddenly), at residence of his sister, Sis Cashin, of Dawson-street, Stawell, Richard, relict of the late Jane Cashin, late of Bendigo and Sunshine, loving father of Richard (deceased), William (Bendigo), Annie (Mrs. W. Dunn, Bendigo), Nellie (Mrs. W. Cockane, Maidstone), Alice (deceased), Albert (Bendigo), and Allan (Albury), aged 79 years. Requiescat in pace ^[4]

STAWELL: The death occurred suddenly at Stawell of Mr Richard Cashin, aged 79. Before water was laid on, Mr Cashin carted the town's supplies from Constable's Dam, on the eastern end of the town. ^[5]

Mr. Dick Cashin.

A well-known figure in Sunshine, in the person of Mr. Dick Cashin, passed away suddenly on June 5, at Stawell, where he had been spending a holiday, preparatory to visiting his daughter, Mrs. Cockayne, at Jackson Street, Maidstone. The late Mr. Cashin, who was 72 [sic] years of age, retired about 18 months ago from the service of the Sunshine Harvester Works, where he had been employed for many years. Just previous to his retirement he was gatekeeper at the works. He was a liberal supporter of most sporting activities in Sunshine, particularly the football club, and was held in high esteem in the district. The burial took place at Bendigo.

The late Mr. Cashin, whose wife predeceased him about 10 years ago, leaves a grown-up family to mourn their loss. ^[6]
