Biography

3rd son of Hugh Casement, eldest son by his 2nd wife Rachel Atkins.

David Atkins Casement emigrated to Australia, arriving in Victoria in 1871.[1]

He served on a merchant ship until about 1877; then he farmed at Balmattum and Euroa; later he was a fisherman in Metung.

In 1880 David married Annie Rebecca Meyer.[2]

Donated to the NLI by a descendant of David Atkins Casement, half brother of Roger Casement (1819-1877) [father of Roger Casement]. The donor's uncle gave this letter to her before his death.
David, a farmer, died on the 1st March 1925 at Metung, Victoria, Australia.[4]

His will was proved in Melbourne in May 1925.
