Biography
Socrates Carver was the eldest son of Judge John R. Carver
He enlisted in Company B. 37th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Sept. 2, 1861. He was the Color Sargent at Murfreesboro, Tenn. He wa promoted to 2nd Leiutenant. He was with Sherman in his March to the Sea, through the Carolinas where he took part in the Grand Review on Pennsylvania Avenue in 1865.
He married Mary Day, with six children from that marriage.
He moved to Missouri in 1893, living there until his death.
