George Carter, was born 1725-30 in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster, Virginia. He was the son of Thomas Carter, grandson of Edward Carter, and great-grandson of Capt. Thomas Carter of "Barford" of Lancaster, Virginia. His wife was Frances Neale of Westmoreland County about 1750-55. They settled in Caroline County and raised their children Richard Alexander, John, George, Presley, Thompson, Levin, Charles E., Spencer, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Sarah Carter here. In 1755 George Carter was ordered to deliver the Estate of John Hubbard, Dec'd, to the securities of the Estate. In 1759 George Carter was guardian of three children, Daniel, Mary, and Eusebius Hubbard, orphans of John Hubbard Decd, giving account to the court. John Hubbard's widow Sarah had remarried to a John Carter who had died in Caroline County by Nov 1750. George received the following grants in Halifax, Virginia, and died there>[1]
On July 10, 1766 George had a grant of 185 acres in the county of Halifax and July 20, 1768, a patent for 354 acres in the same county.
George died in 1786 and the widow, Frances, approved the inventory of his estate. On 9 Feb 1787, Frances wrote a note to the Clerk saying that her husband had recently died, that she wanted Frederick Miller to have a license to marry her daughter, Mary Frances Carter, and was sending her son to represent her." That son was Presley Carter.

Have any marriage records been found for this couple? Any records that have their children? The only statement I've found so far "Thomas Carter living in Lancaster in 1785." as a reference to the son of Thomas Carter (1699-1776). So is this the son of Thomas Carter (1699-1776) or is he of a different Carter line?
