Biography

Alice (Carter) Smith was born in Yorkshire, England.

Alice Carter was born in 1879 in Kirkburton, Yorkshire. ^[1] She was the daughter of John Pearson Carter and Selina Jackson, and was born on 27 August 1879 and baptised on 26 December 1880 in Kirkburton. The family were living in Highburton and her father was an Edge Tool Marker. ^[2]

In 1881 Alice was living with her parents and siblings in Kirkburton, Yorkshire. ^{[3] [4]} Her father died in 1889 and in 1891 her widowed mother Selina was running a Beerhouse called The Sportman's Arms in Highburton, ^[5] and in 1891 age 21 she was working as a Dressmaker. ^[6]

On 28 November 1904 Alice 24, married Franklin Smith 30, at St Matthias, Burley, Leeds, Yorkshire. ^[7] However she died the following year.

Alice died on 5 March 1905 age 25, and was buried in All Hallows Churchyard, Kirkburton, Yorkshire, England. ^{[8] [9]}
