Giuseppe Carrabs was born August 25th, 1882 in a town just outside of Naples, Italy called Gesualdo to Vincenzo Carrabs and Maria Giovanna Capobianco. He had two brothers and one sister who came with him to America. Their names were Rocco, Pasquale and Rosina.

Shortly after the birth of his daughter, Giovanna, the family left Italy and settled in Haverhill, Massachusetts in the early 1900s.. The family prospered there for decades.

Giuseppe became a custodian for Pentucket bank and was one of the founders of the Haverhill Italian Credit Union. He was an avid gardener and helped his wife cook many delectable Italian dishes.

He passed away on May 9th, 1974.

May,1974 Giuseppe Carrabs, 91, 26 Barlett, St. died this morning. He was born in Italy, Aug.25,1882,son of the late Vincent and Maria Louise Carrabs and was the widower of the late Clementina (Forgione) Carrabs. He lived in Haverhill for 75 years and was a retired custodian at Pentucket Five Cents Savings Bank. Mr. Carrabs was one of the founders of The Haverhill Italian Credit Union. He was a past president and past treasurer of the former SS Maria Campagna Society and a member of St. Rita's Parish. He was an Air Raid Warden during WWII. Mr. Carrabis leaves 5 daughters, Mrs. Jennie Zito, Mrs. Hugo (Josephine) Messa, Mrs. Arnold ( Eleanor) Vaillancourt, Mrs. Arnold (Louise) Villanucci and Mrs. Marco (Olympia) Ferraiolo, all of Haverhill, 2 brothers , Rocco Carrabs of Melrose and Pasquale Carrabs of Everett, six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
