Hi Mark.....John B. Carman founder of the town of Hempstead New York 1643 is my 9 x great grandfather.......I have a full tree on ancestry.....nice to meet you!
Hi Carolann, Even though my family can be traced back to Clermont Manor, now the town of Clermont, NY (About 100 miles north of Hempstead, NY), my family is not related to the Long Island Carman family. This was proved through Y-DNA testing with Marvin Carman - a known member of the Long Island Carman family and fellow genealogists. I can trace my family back to a John Carman in 1748 but have not been able to go back any further. He was probably born in the 1720 (place unknown) based solely on his wife, Engeltje Buys, date of birth on 13 February 1726. If you want additional information, please let me know.

Nice to talk with you, Mark
