Biography

William was born about 1885 in Austria. He lived in London as a youth, and came to US as young man. He married Rose Eiss, another Austrian native, in Manhattan, New York City in 1911. By 1930 he had become a naturalized U.S. citizen. Once in the U.S., he began working in the lingerie business, working as cutter and later as pattern maker and production manager. In 1926 he and Harry Aronson formed the firm now known as Seamprufe, which at his death in 1951 was one of 5 largest lingerie manufacturers in the country. He was survived by his wife Rose and 5 children.
