Alfred Canning was born 1860. Alfred was a famous character as it was he who was responsible for The Canning Stock Route. If you google his name you will get a lot more information on him. There is an exhibition on The Canning Stock Route on display
Alfred's 2nd name is Wernam, birth record (handwritten) appears to be Wornam, electoral roll & death record is Wernam, expect what was intended was Wernham, the maiden name of his maternal g-mother. In considering literacy levels & language accents of the period, second name is accepted as being Wernam.
Along with the Canning Stock Route, Alfred had a lesser known project in WA being the Rabbit Proof Fence.
He passed away in 1936 and is buried at Karrakatta, WA
